Introducing Video Game Reviews

upcoming-video-games

In the past several weeks, I’ve been trying to think of ways to expand this website, and make it useful for more people of varying interests.  That’s difficult, since as of now, I’m the only one writing for the blog on a regular basis, and I only have so much time and resources to review things or write about them.  For that reason, I’ve stayed away from reviewing video games for a while, since it takes a lot of time to play through them (assuming you’re playing through a game with some sort of story or campaign mode), and then review them.  But I’ve decided that it’s worth my time to undertake this endeavor.

Now, because it takes a while to get through these games, I won’t promise a week of video game reviews right off the bat.  I do have a few games I’m planning on reviewing though:

  • Portal
  • Portal 2
  • Batman: Arkham City
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning
  • Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
  • Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

I’d also like to eventually review some older games, like Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, etc.  What games I’ll be able to review, however, depends on a couple things.  First, video games are expensive, and I have limited funds.  This means that I’ll be largely limited to what games I already own, or can rent or borrow.  Secondly, I don’t own a newest generation system, because they’re very expensive, and when I play games of my own choice in my spare time, I tend to prefer retro games anyway.  So for the foreseeable future, the games I will be reviewing will be for the Wii or some older system (excepting PC games, perhaps).  I hope to eventually get someone I trust to also write game reviews who has access to more than I do, but for the moment that is what the situation is.

I look forward to getting these reviews out there, and I hope you do too.  I also will be putting together some ideas for blog posts on different video game questions, such as whether Christians should play first-person shooter games, street-racing games, and other topics that would fit into video game discussion for Christians, and some good old fun articles on video game franchises.  Check in often, because I’m planning on posting the first of these video game posts this week.

    • Definitely. Skyrim is next on my list of games to buy, I just need to make sure my computer has the specs to handle it. I don’t have an Xbox, so I would need a guest reviewer to do the Halo games, although I do have one or two people in mind for that, so that could happen in the future.
