Megan Fox’s April O’Neil Will Not Be Sexualized

I’ve had a whirlwind of emotion about the new Ninja Turtles movie.  While the original films will always have a special place in my childhood memories, I was pretty thrilled to hear of the remake.  Then I was horrified as Michael Bay was turning them into aliens.  Then I was relieved as he recanted that.  Then I was worried that Megan Fox’s April O’Neil was going to be sleazy.  That fear, too, seems to have been squashed.  Check out this quote from Megan Fox about the character from an Entertainment Weekly interview:

“I’m completely clothed for the entire movie.  There’s no gratuitous skin or sexual anything.  Jonathon was really insistent on not wanting her to be sexualized or to take that sort of typical role we’ve seen women take in movies thus far, and that I’ve taken in particular.”

Thus another fear squashed.

It appears that this film will really be worth watching, after all.  In the same interview Fox said she was such a big fan of the ninja turtles that she made her husband watch the animated series while they were dating.  So we’ve got a girl that probably knows the character inside and out and is not going to be sexualized for the movie.  I have high hopes.
