There have been whispers of quite a few DC films in the works.  Here are the five that really should be made, in no particular order.

1. The Justice League

A Justice League film should be done for many reasons.  All of its members are very recognizable heroes, and there won’t be that much bickering about who’ll make up the team.  There are three that won’t even be disputed (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman), and beyond that, the only real options will be Flash, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, and Aquaman.  There have been others, but these are the only real options, and you could even have all 8 if you did right (The Avengers did pretty well with 6).  The Nolan and Snyder DC films of late have been top-notch, so if they keep with the same direction, it would be amazing.  It would be even better if they incorporated the CW’s Green Arrow and Flash.

2. Green Lantern

Regardless of your feelings about Ryan Reynolds and the Green Lantern film, the DC universe will not be using that version of the character for the Justice League.  That means we need a reboot.  I’d love to see a John Stewart version myself, but it’s probably more realistic to hope for a Hal Jordan movie.

3. Nightwing

This is the direction I was hoping they’d go after The Dark Knight Rises, but alas, the money beckoned them to return to Batman.  Still, a Nightwing movie would be pretty cool.  Dick Grayson is one of the deepest characters in comics, and he was so successful a sidekick that he outgrew the role.  It would make a great movie if the right person headed it up.

4. The Titans

Not Teen Titans.  Just The Titans.  When the Teen Titans grew up they were a pretty legit team headed up by Nightwing.  With a lineup of Nightwing, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, and possibly Cyborg, the movie could be pretty awesome.  With a recent tweet by the Superman vs. Batman producer saying the new Batman is not currently talking to Robin, this could be a perfect follow-up to explain what Dick Grayson is up to, and would be the perfect follow-up to a Nightwing film.

5. Batman (The Court of Owls)

If we’re going to establish an expansive DC cinematic universe, there has to be a new Batman film.  A perfect story would be the Court of Owls, which is depicted in the first two volumes of the New 52 Batman reboot (you can read my review of those issues starting here).  It’s a story that people haven’t seen before, and it’s utterly phenomenal.  If the script made the conflict more about The Talon and less about the Court, it would make a fantastic film.

Those are my choices.  What DC movies would you like to see?

    • You know, I used to think a Nightwing movie was impossible, but Robin is apparently away in the new Batman, so the possibility is definitely there.
